Welcome to the FAQ
Starting Pilates in Boulder (or trying a new studio) can bring up lots of questions — and we’re here for all of them. Whether you’re new to Pilates or new to Wabi-Sabi Pilates, this FAQ page is your space to find the answers you need.
Not seeing what you’re looking for? Reach out — we’re always happy to chat about classes, private sessions, or our Boulder studio.
If we’ve missed anything, please reach out with additional questions and we can add them to our page: info@wabisabipilates.com.
- I’m new to Pilates, is Wabi-Sabi a good place to start?
Absolutely. We welcome all bodies and experience levels. Whether it’s your first Pilates class or your hundredth, there’s space for you here. We offer clear guidance and options so you can move in a way that feels right for you.
- What should I wear to Pilates Class?
Wear whatever you’re comfortable moving in—think stretchy, breathable clothes that let you focus on how you feel, not how you look. Most people go barefoot or wear grip socks (which we sell at the studio if you need a pair).
- Do I need to bring anything to Pilates?
Just yourself and maybe a water bottle. We provide mats and all Pilates equipment and props. If you have a favorite mat or prop, you’re welcome to bring it along.
- How do I book a Pilates class?
You can sign up through our website or studio app. We recommend booking ahead—our classes are intentionally small to keep things personal.
- What if I need to cancel a Pilates class?
We get it—life happens. Cancel at least 24 hours before a private session or group equipment class or 12 hours before a group mat class to avoid a charge. This helps us respect everyone’s time and keep the schedule flowing.
- When should I arrive at the studio?
Arriving 5–10 minutes early gives you time to settle in and get ready without feeling rushed. If it’s your first visit, come a bit earlier so we can show you around.
- What kinds of Pilates do you offer?
We offer both mat and equipment-based Pilates at our Boulder studio. We use reformers with towers, chairs, a Cadillac, ladder barrel, Pilates arcs, and a full range of supportive props. Whether you’re looking to build strength, improve mobility, or add variety to your routine, our classes are designed to keep things fresh, functional, and accessible for all levels.
- Can I come to Pilates if I’m pregnant, post-partum, or managing an injury?
Yes. We just ask that you check with your doctor first and let your instructor know before class so we can support you with appropriate modifications. If you’re working with an acute injury or recovering from surgery, we recommend starting with private sessions. That way, we can give you more personal attention and tailor the pace to support your recovery safely.
- Do you offer private or small group Pilates Sessions?
Yes—we offer one-on-one and duo sessions if you’re looking for a more personalized experience. These can be a great way to build confidence or focus on specific goals. You can book them online or reach out to us directly.
- How often should I come to Pilates class?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people come once a week, others more often. We encourage consistency, but more importantly—listen to your body, and find a rhythm that works for your life. Showing up is always enough.
"As someone relatively new to Pilates, working with Kelly both in person and on Zoom has been a revelation for my overall fitness. She was very patient and supportive in teaching me the fundamentals of Pilates, her style of teaching and approach allowed me to feel confident while learning the proper techniques. Week by week I was able to add on to what I had worked on previously and continue to learn and advance as I progressed through the program. As someone with back issues, she was very attentive and made sure I never experienced any discomfort and was quick to modify any exercise to support my specific needs. I would highly recommend Kelly to anyone at any experience level as she has a unique talent to make certain the workout supports your specific needs."
