Strength Training Foundations Series

4-week Strength Training Series
led by Hali Jones, DPT

Program runs May 5th-28th Tuesdays 5:30pm +/or Thursdays 9am

Program Intro Pricing!

1/wk for 4 weeks $140
2/wk for 4 weeks $240

This is a 4-week progressive, small group strength class appropriate for beginner to intermediate skill level. No prior lifting experience is necessary.

You’ll meet once or twice per week (you choose) and allow consistency to create progress. This is not a pilates class. It’s strength training focused on developing weightlifting skills using a progressive approach to help you build a more robust and capable body.

You’ll be coached through foundational lifts, accessory work, and a gradual introduction to impact and plyometric movements. Along the way, you’ll learn what feels comfortable, what doesn’t, and how your body responds to different positions and loads. We’ll use that information to guide how you perform and modify your main lifts so you can train with confidence.

Note, if you have physical limitations or active medical issues, Hali offers free consultations to discuss concerns and help decide whether this class is for you.

As always at Wabi-Sabi, class sizes are small, so you can get the attention you need, ask questions, and still have an individual experience. Hali has a doctorate in Physical Therapy, so anyone new to strength training, those with more complicated physical histories, or current injuries or mobility issues will be in very capable hands.

Schedule runs May 5th-28th.

(Update:  Drop-in classes can be booked on the group class page at the group class drop-in price ($45) or use your Pilates group class pack. Even if you’re doing drop-ins, we recommend sticking to at least a 1/weekly cadence to see progress.)

neck pain reduced by pilates in boulder, colorado

A Real Pain in the Neck

A Pilates-based approach to reduce neck strain in exercise, work and daily life.

Saturday, May 16th, 12-1:30pm

$39 per person

Neck tension is common–and frustrating–but it’s rarely just about the neck.

Prolonged sitting, driving, screens and phones (tech neck!), and repetitive movement patterns can increase the load placed on the cervical spine (the vertabrae of our neck area). Over time, this can show up as tightness, discomfort, or strain—both in daily life and during exercise.

In short, our modern lives have outpaced our ability to adapt physically, and our necks are taking the brunt of that reality.

In this workshop, we’ll be on the mat using Pilates-based principles and props to explore how posture, breathing, and movement patterns influence what your neck is doing. The goal isn’t to stretch your neck more—it’s to improve how your body supports it.

We’ll focus on:

  • Building support through the trunk and upper back
  • Reducing unnecessary tension in the neck and shoulders
  • Recognizing and adjusting common compensatory patterns
  • Applying these changes in Pilates and other exercise, at your desk, and in daily life

You’ll leave with a better understanding of why your neck feels the way it does—and simple, practical ways you can practice and start using these principles to reduce strain over time.

Note: This workshop is designed for general neck tension related to posture, movement, and lifestyle. It is not appropriate for acute injuries or active spinal conditions.

Pain in the Butt - Pilates + Group Coaching

New Dates Coming

Low back pain, tight hamstrings, hip tenderness….they all are a pain in the butt.  Join us on Zoom for this virtual 4-session workshop series designed to help release tension and increase mobility in some of your biggest muscle groups–the glutes, hips and thighs.  Tension and lack of mobility here can contribute to pain in many other parts of your body, and we’ll learn all about those surprising relationships, as well as how to relieve them.  We’ll focus on foundational Pilates mat exercises that can tap into new movement patterns in exercise, work and life.  As a group, we’ll also talk about the impact of how we live our lives outside of exercise that can contribute to hip tightness and glute pain.  Sitting, driving, unbalanced training…these are all obvious contributors that we’ll dig into.   We’ll also cover some less obvious factors that can make significant impacts, too.   Each session we’ll build on the prior through movement, learning, listening, and connecting–within ourselves and to each other.

*Note, this workshop is not intended to support acute injuries.  In case of a recent injury or surgery, please work with your doctor or physical therapist on a protocol for rehabilitation.

This workshop series is led by Kelly Gorder, NBC-HWC.  Kelly is a National Board Certified Professional Coach and a Balanced Body Comprehensive Certified Pilates instructor.
